Understanding Projection Modes
Two key modes are essential for optimizing your projection experience:
Duplicate Mode: Mirrors the Surface screen onto another display. Ideal for presentations, allowing everyone in the room to see what's on your Surface screen.
Extend Mode: Converts the connected display into an additional, independent screen, enabling the movement of windows between the Surface screen and the external display. It's perfect for multitasking with additional applications or documents visible alongside your main task.
Step-by-Step Guide
Switching Between Extend and Duplicate Modes
With your Surface connected to an external display via a docking station, switching between extend and duplicate modes can be seamlessly achieved using keyboard shortcuts:
Press the Windows key + P to open the projection options sidebar. This shortcut is a quick way to access projection settings without navigating through the Windows interface.
Select your desired projection mode from the sidebar:
Duplicate: Mirrors your Surface's screen on the connected display.
Extend: Expands your workspace across the Surface screen and the external display, allowing for independent interaction with each.
